I am relining an oak & leather gun case and I would like some
information on what kind of adhesive to use to glue the baize
in.

I have had success with 3M spray on adhesive. It doesn't get to heavy and you can see it spray on to get an even coat.

I have redone many cases and built new ones and I have come to rely on simple Elmer's white glue. However, unlike hide glue, it can't be easily removed. The trick is to use it sparingly so that no glue seeps through the fabric. If it does seep through, there will be a hard spot. Practice first before starting on your case.
I don't know the source of your baise fabric, but I always use premium heavy billiard cloth from a pool table repair source.

I second 3m spray (Super 77). Contact cement and white glue work, but it's real easy to use too much and have them bleed through.

I use a thin coat of white glue. The nice thing about white glue is you can position and stretch the material to fit since it doesn't dry immediately.

I get my baize from Abimelech Hainsworth in England. They have been supplying baize to the English gun trade since the early 1700s. This is the original stuff! It comes as "baize" which is a modern copy having 80% wool, 20% nylon or "heritage" that is the old original 100% wool. http://www.abimelech.co.uk/

I can only get it in very small tubes.

I apologize for hijacking this thread, but would you by any chance be able to point me in the right direction as to where to find plans to built gun cases. I am interested in learning how to built my own gun cases and have access to my father's woodshop. However, I just could find any plans for it. Thanks in advance for all your help. Andy

Andy,
I would highly suggest that you buy a beat up old English oak and leather case and start from there. Take it apart and then totally rebuild it. You will learn a lot about them this way.
