Hi all, I did talk to the seller on this gun and it has been restocked. This is just one of those guns that catches your eye and for some reason you really like it. Here I am a 16ga guy and a lover of spanish and english guns. This one is German and a 12....go figure!! One thing that I like about this gun is the engraving, nice scroll, not the cartoonish game scenes you normally find, plus the wood is very nice. So.....I put in a bid, maybe I'm on my way to my first German gun.

I'm going to ask about the chambers...thanks Postoak. The Chambers are factory marked 70mm, so they have not been let out.

All the best!!

Greg

I have a BSW WW II vintage(1934) Simpson in 16 ga. It is my understanding that the Simpsons were Jewish hence the name change during the Nazi era. It's not as ornate as the above example but boy are these well made. It has a horn triggerguard which you either love or hate.

Looks like a very nice gun. Restock wood is beautiful. I traded away a 16ga pre-war Simson SxS a while back, and it was a great gun, also restocked. The engraving on this one alone, seems well worth the current bid.

Interesting double indeed. It looks to be for the American market, or possibly English, per the absence of cocking indicators & sling swivels and proofed/proved in July of 1925 with 70mm chambers and vulgar fractions. It has either a double rifle receiver or Model 35/36 Drilling receiver/frame(my guess but similar to Model 61 but the scalloped frame is a little different) with Purdey sideclips, H&H ejectors and Weapons Grade Krupp steel tubes as found on Sauers while Simson made tubes generally have the name "Simson" in script on the underside, i.e. Simson frame with Sauer tubes??? The high end Simson Model 62 had tubes of Poldi steel while the Model 61 had Krupp fluid steel tubes as well as a straight hand stock. This Simson has set screws at the overhanging and interscepting scears, as noted by Mr. Mouer, which is usually found on double rifles. Fine Arabesque/Scroll engraving as found on a Model 60 with straight hand stock. Definitely a restock as the pistol grip would have had a cap. Serial number is on the left barrel flat and Simson logo should be on the left side of the rear lug. Interesting combination of features found on a range of weapons all in one lot.

Kind Regards,

Raimey

It's a beautiful gun, Greg. Like Daryl, it looks to have been restocked to me. If the comb dimensions are good for you, it appears worth the money. The 13-3/4 LOP could be lengthened with a 1" Decelerator pad, if necessary.

Hi all and thanks for all the info and comments. As was said befoe the gun has been restocked and the seller has even stated so in his auction. LOP is no real bid deal, my LOP is about 14 1/8 or so, so adding a pad would do the trick. To be honest, it is a nice piece of wood, nice figure and all.

Again, thanks all!!

Greg

That is a lovely looking gun and I do wish you get it.

Apart from restocking, do you think that it is also refinished, reblued and recoloured? Not that these things are a negative, just curious if they have a bearing on the price.Thanks.

Best-
Vikram

It appears that the gun has a "diamond wrist" which I find particularly appealing. Hope you get it!

Hi all, I just want to thank you all for your best wishes on me getting this gun, but, I've been outbid. So be it, I put in the most I could afford and didn't get her. I wish the new owner all the best and hope that they shoot and enjoy this gun for many years to come in good health.

I also want to thank all of you for the great info I received on this gun. Even if I didn't win it, I still learned a lot about this gun and the maker. So in away I did win something also, knowledge.

Again, thanks!!

All the best!

Greg
