I see he was using something proven and time tested !

Nothing quite like a 1897 Winchester.

Horrendous design suitable only for trench warfare of yesteryear. It's hard to believe they made those obsolete guns well into the fifties when Mod. 12, 31, 37s were readily available. Someone with large hands could very well end up with chunk of skin missing!

Yep, with the exception of first designs nothing is quite as bad as the 1897!

Only because you critics don't own one. I have two and love them. I once had three but a hunting buddy in his twenties talked me out of one. They are grand old guns: the frontier six-shooters of the shotgun world. Chopperlump

If you are a Moron you might injure yourself with gun.

A few years difference in technology between it and the M37. Not a fair comparison.

Still duck hunt with a 1897 that my great grandfather hunted with. (Use 2 3/4" steel shot in a 28" modifed choked barrel) Great guns that are still a great design. If you can figure out how to use one, you probably should not own a gun at all.

They certainly aren't for me. After years of researching the likes of Ansley Fox and Harold Money (De Shootinest Gent'man) who shucked them for the big W, I had to have one. Got one, tried it, didn't like it. Pieces moving everywhere and totally unforgiving. Happiest day with the Model 97 was when I traded it for another Superposed.
