I am thinking of having a custom case made for a double rifle. Thinking about an oak and leather case but would be interested in looking at others too!

I would appreciate any insight from those that may have gone thru the process ~ best case for the money? how long did it take? recommended seller(s)?

My apologies if this topic has been presented here before....I tried to search it, but had no luck

John can make what you want out of Oak and Leather. Very good quality for the price and he can meke them out of exotic woods as well.

I just recently received a case I had FEI custom build for my 20-ga. A.H. Fox Sterlingworth Special, it is their O&L Twin Lock model with oak dividers and ultrasuede interior. The case is very well built and attractive. At FEI's price point they offer tremendous value and will be hard to beat. My case took about four months from the time of order to completion. http://www.feiguncases.com/ Here are a couple of pics:

Wow! bamboozler that is a beaut! Thanks for the pics.

Did you pick up the snap caps later or did they have them?

Do you send them the gun measurements or do I need to get the
gun(s) to them for accuracy?

I have seen several of their cases for sale on Gunbrokers
I think) and assume they may be cancellations or problems cases.....at any rate, none looked to work for the rifles that
I would like to case.

Anybody else have other suggestions?

Thanks for the replies!!

To get a case made you take a pencil and put your gun on a rolled out sheet of paper. You take the pencil and go around the receiver and barels. John builds your case form that. Any custom things are up to you like extra compartments for turn screws etc.

Gordon is correct, all John and Kelly from FEI require is a tracing of the components. I also furnished exact measurements along with the tracings. It would have been better though if they would have had the actual gun inhand to provide an exact fit.

FEI may have snap caps, oil cans. etc. but in my case I had pre-purchased them from Galazan. Incidently, FEI furnished the leather Fox trade label for my case at a fraction of the cost that others supply them at.

VACollector,

Thought to add another option to your request. Artist, sculpter, craftsman Glen McCune is a talent you should investigate for your custom case. Most cases are beautiful in fit and finish, but custom only in handmade and fit for the gun. Glen's work is a one of a kind piece of art. Wood selection, images[favorite dog, game bird or animal] applied in paint, etching, scrimshaw or carved give a unique character to the case. Viewing Glen's site (mccune-art.com)or the images below reveals the outstanding talent available for the project. A visionary Glen will give you a product of lasting quality and character. A cape buffalo or lion carved on the case brings out a touch of a clients personality to compliment the case. E-mail Glen: [mccune@freeway.net] Randy
