Also Alex, as far as telling if the case colors are true, In my opinion that is a tough call. I think that you would have to look at the blueing for any wear marks, look closely at the stock for dings, scratches, etc. You would have to look at everything and decide if it looks like an 80 year old gun. These guns were made to be used,and it should reflect on the overall appearance. There probably aren't that many that were "closet queens".
As far as the one on CSMC, I think he will have that for a long time at that price.
I don't know what the policy is on the gun you are looking at, but you could get informaion from the Cody Museum and it would tell you what the gun had when it was shipped, to whom, and when.
