Jay Cee: Typicaly, we do all of the above. It's the 'Merican way. Before we embark on a hunting trip, we watch as many John Wayne WWII movies as we can stay awake for. Check the bayonet lug on the Flues and practice our low crawls. Once in the field, we determine the only rabbit alive is in the brush pile, buryed beneath the sticker bushes and giggling madly at our ineptitude. The Black Beauties take affect and we dive in, gun first, fighting the brush with the stock and muzzles of our assault Floozies, damaging the gun most certainly but proving our superiority for once and for all.

We'll get to the river swimming later. It's part of the advanced course.

Best to you amigo mio,

Cary

Thanks- I should have tried to use pig hunting as the example. JayCee would have identified more closely with hand to hand combat with a pig. I think he calls them boars.

A pretty gun indeed. My personal favorite is this O/U by FAMARS for $57,200, and it's in my favorite gauge too.

Cary and Jack, point well taken. Good examples.

As a matter of fact for "pig" hunting I used a trusty
870 with rifled barrel and slugs that kicked like a mule,
not one of my better doubles.

And btw Cary they are wild boar
brought from Europe over a 100 years ago that have fared
very well down south; well enough to be in the pest category.

Very best to you too,

JC

Some of us have been known to take a backwards dive off a rickety bridge into a muddy canal, with new Beretta O/U in hand.

I would bet that this gun is mainly for competition shooting of some sort where two different gauges on one gun would come in handy. Otherwise why have a stock with dimensions and a shape like that, or a 20 gauge option that goes 8 pounds in weight? But if it were a gun practical for hunting (and for some reason I owned it), I for one would certainly take it out after real birds.
