eightbore, have not looked at it closely enough to note the year code and didn't even think of looking for stoeger markings. and didn't take any particular note of the f/e latch. haven't looked at it as closely as if i were buying it and didn't want to attract the attention of whoever was watching on the cctv by dismantling it.
Mike, yeah i saw that one (the ad i mean). the one i'm looking at is identical except lesser condition. i've never actually bought a gun from them tho i've sold one on consignment thru them and sold them a Scottish baskethilt outright. i've tried to buy a couple but the distance (i.e. gas or shipping) involved plus sales tax always made it cheaper to go out of state and my impression is they run kinda high.

The linked gun is not the fifties vintage Aristocrat. It's a bit like the "factory engraved Winchester". You will see 98 that are what they say they are for every 2 you see that are real. The unengraved Aristocrat cost $396 in 1955. How many do you think Stoeger really sold? Even the one I owned was not originally sold in this country.
