I suppose in the British parlance these would be MBL's-Military Breech Loaders.

They are frequently called Majuba Martini's or Improved Martini's. The generally accepted rifle of the Boers at Majuba was the Monkey tail but it is feasible that the 1871 could have been there. As to it being an improved Martini, WR's patent was filed 40 days before Martini's and as a result WR collected a royalty from Martini and RSAF for every MH made.

One of these two rifles of mine may become a WR Musket No. 2 sporting rifle.
