Oops, I was wrong about current pricing, so there must be 'Heaven on Earth' for some folks out there. Here is good site to check out: If you are interested in current asking prices check out the "Kaiser Rolls'" site....... Look at that .375 on Magnum action made by R.G. Owen (drawing a blank here). Made in Saquoit NY (gee, never heard of the town). Proly the best thing ever to come out of local barn or garage in that poor ole' town. Just what you need up there in Alaska, but be sure to slip on 'Limb Saver' pad on that thing prior to use. I would have to say it's at least as good as anything Englismen made at that time (guessing ca. 1925?).

Not surprised you've said that PJ, I think American bolt rifles are the best around. What the English did for guns, Americans did for rifles! Both my Kimber and Cooper are as slick as my long gone Coggie for many thousands less.

About moon ago I looked at one of those ole' custom Mauser actioned 'Knockabout' beauties. It was .404(-R)NEJ by Hoffman Arms Co. from OK, USA. Plain rifle built for a 'White Hunter'. It came with 2 boxes of ammo with waxed paper still inside. That guy gave me whole scoop about this Co. from marine Hoffman of Fredericksburg Va>>>OH?>>>OK....? If I had 9k to spare I would have bought it, but.... Hey, if I had 20K to spare I would give "Herr Sauerkraut" a call and make a deal on that unknown to me "Welchie Man gun". If you find something better made in "NY country barn" I luv to see it.

R. G. Owen is a pretty well known name, at least by the folks who frequent this board. Correct spelling of his "barn's" location is "Sauquoit," which is about in the middle of NY, east of Syracuse. Steve Barnett has or had one of his shotguns. His guns are rare, well done and expensive. I believe he bought European, primarily Belgian, actions and customized them. Others can add details. There was also an article on him some time ago in the DGJ.

800k for a gun. Say did this thing pass from Wyatt Earp through Teddy to Elvis? Gee, OWD you should have bought that gem next time it will set you back 1.2Mil. There we a litle over 1000 Colt Walkers made and the survival rate is low due to heavy use by the military. The remaining Walkers are the ne plus ultra for the advanced Colt Collector and I believe this is the first one that's been available publicy for quite some time. Jim

"What the English did for guns, Americans did for rifles"
All rifles are guns. All guns are not rifles. Henceforth,I have no idea what you are trying to say.
