Ken,
I've done that. That's how I built my 7x57 Mauser and I have a roller with Steve Durren right now and I'm talking to Mr Steele about a G&H style Springfield. But, if I ever find a decent Hepburn action - well I have plans that involve Ken Hurst engraving!!! I have some pictures pinned to the wall in the gunroom. (I have to hide them behind some old Vargas girls so the CDFO doesn't get suspicious.) Meanwhile I'm working on a Martini Henry that needs some new pins, screws and firing pin. Does anyone know the screw size for MH MK II trigger screw? I'm pretty sure even I can turn a new firing pin out of tool steel without too much trouble.

Glenn, I see you are trying to chase me away! :-) Nice workmanship indeed, but for the rest I'll just grit my teeth and bear it... BTW, the next Martini project is also getting there, this one with a Westley Richards ZAR action and a 16" twist .45 Eichelberger barrel. I already have a chunk of wood too, so who knows, this winter??

Mr. Belgian:
I look forward to seeing it. After all, if you can look at my Hepburn it is only right that I should have to look at your Martini...
The ZAR will be interesting. Keep us posted. And speaking of Westley Richards, the one "Martini" that I really would like to have is the W-R Model of 1869. Now there is a hinged block rifle with some style!

Glenn,
To be honest, for the moment I am also trying to chase down a Field - Martini variant in #2 Musket, and it has that very same flush lever of the side as your Hepburn, only bigger... A bit like that one J D had :-)

I'll look forward to working for you Mr. Jerry. Seems you have plenty of time to figure out what amount & style of scratching you'll want. May I suggest you give me a call so we can kick around your ideas. I have found talking to clients way ahead of time is very helpful in designing exactly what the clients really wants. Ken

Glenn, why a 69 and not a 71?

Martinibelgian, I am familiar with a sidelever Field patent which has a vertically dropping block, but not with a Field Martini.

DD:
It is just a matter of aesthetics. I like the lines of the '69 better. I would not turn up my nose at a '71, but it is the '69 that has won my heart... but it has to have the pierced lever.
But then again, I have been accused of liking Rollers and Hepburns, so in come circles my judgment could be deemed suspect.

Joe,
email sent. Tried using the site personal message and sent one previous email. I guess they didn't get through.
