Lead is nice and low, at 76-77 cents a pound. Has anyone seen any recent price movement? Our local Sportsman's Warehouse is sitting at $39.99, down from a high of $49.99.

Best I've done is bulk order (8 bags) of Lawrence Magnum "extra hard" in target sizes from the local pistol club. $35+ per bag. I don't really know how good Lawrence is but it's got to be better than the Eagle stuff from S. Amer. I like West Coast small shot but I think it's still north of 40 locally. Fortunately, I'm working a lot so I can buy it but unfortunately I'm working at lot and can't shoot it.

Jack, what have you heard, seen, or experienced about Eagle shot? Too many deformed pellets?

Maybe it's the cheap[?] chilled stuff that brings trouble as on couple of occasions I've had two sizes and two surface finishes in one bag. No question about it being soft; every last piece in a load would dimple like a golf ball on setback. Good enuf for skeet but what isn't?

Believe it was "chilled" which I take to mean darn little antimony. Pair of ordinary pliers tell the story on hardness most of the time anyway no matter the reference to special properties in the name. What I didn't care for was mixture of two pellet sizes (obvious to the eye) and what appeared to be lead oxide coating on the larger, graphite on the smaller.

Jack, I remember seeing some factory Rem loadings that cost big bucks for the priviledge of shooting a "matrix" load like that.
