Doc Bill, thank you for the advice. I like your idea of removing the metal before it's fully hard. I've done this on less critical applications but probably wouldn't have had the guts to do so on this one, without your experience. And yes, it's hard to use too much release agent. I must confess to using the blue stuff Brownells supplies, then applying paste wax over that.
