Some better pictures, Not sure you can tell but Wundhammer’s checkering follows the contour of the pistol grip and is not straight. How common is this from today’s makers?

What pre-war custom American maker do you have an interest in? Name a maker you want to learn about and we can see what is out there. Sorry I don’t know much about after the war makers but I’ll bet many of the readers do. Do you have a favorite or someone you have read about? I want to do something different than just posting pictures for folks who I’m not sure have an interest.
Guess I misunderstood the topic? I thought you asked what pre-war American custom gun maker we wanted to learn about. Sorry.

we all want to learn,we just do not want to be taught.the air-ganst of most of this gives me the creeps---the gun righters could have kept jcs feet from getin wet. some times i wish he had asked one of them.

Sorry you lost me there, I ask for a topic and Jerry ask about Wundhammer so I’m posting on the subject of Wundhammer. He also asks to see rifles by Linden, Owen, Minar, Niedner and the Pachmayer. I can contribute material and pictures on these. I have next to nothing on Emil Flues. It’s possible that other members know about Flues and could share what they know with you on him. As before I suggest that you start a thread on Flues and see what happens. Does this answer your concerns or am I completely misunderstanding the situation?

Vall Flues is a name I've heard but otherwise have no idea of what he did but I'd like to know what you know and what anyone else may have. Please do start a new thread and see what appears.

The lines of checkering follow the curve of the pattern? You know I just looked at my rifles and all the lines are straight. Now that you mention it I don't think I have seen curved lines of checkering before or, if I did, I didn't have the wit to notice. Checking my books I see they all show setting out perfectly straight guide lines to begin checkering.

Michael, somewhere down the line I'd like to learn more about Wilbur Hauck. A hunting buddy of mine in upstate NY has an interesting single shot varmint rifle designed and manufactured by him (a .219 Zipper Improved). I think he did most of his work after WWII, tho.

Wundhammer and his Protege Ross King both checkered their pistol grips with checkering that followed the couture of the grip. This would be worth knowing when trying to ID a Wundhammer or King. I don't believe I've seen this on other makers, Like SDH said most try to keep them straight. ;-). I'm also confused Michael. I didn't know the question was specific to certain custom gunmakers. I didn't mean that you had to teach me or anyone about Emil Flues, and I'm certainly not an authority on him. I was merely tossing his name out in reply to your question, "What pre-war custom American maker do you have an interest in? Name a maker you want to learn about and we can see what is out there."
I named a maker in hopes that someone here might have info on Flues. I didn't name one in an attempt to be clever and answer my own question.
