Well, I've read about Wundhammer for the last 50+ years and his famous "swell" but I've never seen one of his rifles. Actually I'd like to see a dissertation on the evolution of custom rifles built on the Springfield (and Krag) from the earliest to just before WWII. Stock design and embellishment, sights, furniture, wood and metal finish, engraving, etc. You could probably start with Teddy Roosevelt's '03. Just reading about the different ways of finishing the bolt body was very interesting and suggests there are a lot of things to learn about even the seemingly most trivial item. For later topics a comparison of bolt handles altered for scopes would be worthwhile. I'd like to see rifles by Linden, Owen, Minar, Neidner, prewar Pachmyer, etc.
