Saw this gun and thought of you, rgh2. It is a pretty decent appearing BLE and it does, correctly, say Purdey on the side. It is the "D" grade gun.

The Army & Navy Co-operative Society was bought out by House of Fraser in 1973, a department store, they have the records and I think they are held at the University of Glasgow Archives and Business Records Centre. You should be able to find that on an internet records search. If not I'll try to get their full details for you. Lagopus.....
