Yes and no on the Crescents- I "overhauled one" into a Cowboy Action shotty-gun for a friend- 12 gauge hammer sidelock- 30" heavy walled barrels- tight lock-up, heavy trigger pulls but good sear engagement-forearm latch similar to Parker VH design-solid, no great wood but good fit by lockplates-and no "Elsie" splittings. I have 12 ga. receiver, left sideplate, trigger plate with triggers, top lever and bolt for a 12 Crescent- a Chicago Hibbard Spencer "jobbers" gun-if anyone is looking to rebuild or repair a Crescent. And the .410 Hammer Crescents are indeed- "Eye candy" for those small-bore folks. Me, make mine a 12!!RWTF
