I recently bought a 1932 mfg. 20 ga. M12 field- had the baby crap brown Pachmayer "Whiteline" pad- and the pebbled butt surface-fits me like a glove- I did the Bob Brister trick (I hold the shotgun butt under my armpit and slide it forward and back when mounting- "Limey Style"--I used Scotch black electrician's tape=No more white line- Just for the "Hey" of it- in the 1920's and 1930's- when Mershon sold those pads- most upper bracket cars had the big black ballooned tires with inner tubes and Big Fat Whitewalls-maybe from a marketing standpoint that's where Mershon got the "Whiteline" concept- and Pachmayer was a leader in "upgrading" basic M21's and Parkers- engraving, dummy sideplates-the "bells and whistles" of custom gunsmithing!!
