I lightly honed the chambers on my best set of barrels. There are some areas of dark discoloration, but no pitting. Dragging a fingernail across the areas does not detect any pitting. Now I'm wondering if I have the same situation on the four or five dark areas (maybe 1/8" to 3/16" diameter splotches) that are scattered down each barrel bore. I'm thinking about using a bent piece of light music wire to see if I can detect any catching when it is drug across these areas. I would assume that if these spots are not deep enough to "catch a nail" then they should not pose a serious safety hazard. Comments or suggestions? The other set of barrels will definitely need to be evaluated by a gunsmith.
