Geno, Love to see and read your posts. You must have a special red dog there. I raised Irish in the 70's, thinking there must be a hunter in them somewhere. All I got was clowns. They couldn't smell supper if they were sitting on it and there hunting range was measured in miles ahead of you. Last one flat ran away, at least I didn't have to dig a hole. Keep posting about your adventures, photos please. Questions?? What is your dogs name? Is that a corn field in the background of the first photo? If so, you can shoot geese off your porch. Are you still building duck calls and are they available for sale? Randy

Dog's name is Troy.
You can't see rye field, cause it's on another side from what you can see on pic, but geese will be landed aprx. 200-300 yards from this hunting cabin and I expect them in 1-2 weeks
I still make goose and duck calls, but in very limited number, it's my hobby and I got a lot of work to do for my cable TV business now.
I'll let you know, when I make something

Is the duck your dog is holding a hen gadwall? I fancy myself quite the duck ID specialist but I'm not sure about that one.

Keep me posted on the calls as well, I'd love to have one of your goose calls.

Ahhhh ok, I see it now. I wasn't seeing the blue on the bill, it's turned away from the camera.

Seems to me the Russians were able to keep there line of Irish Setters pure and resisted the temptation of the Europeans to breed the hunting instincts out of the Irish Setter and make him more of a show dog. That would be interesting reading on where and how the two separated!!!!
And should canine associations start recognizing this separation with maybe a Russian Irish Setter or more to the point calling it a Red Setter??? I Don't know??

treblig, this particular dog is pure show bred dog with roots from Ireland/UK. We just selected dogs with good hunting abilities during last 3 generations. Now I have the right IMHO to call them as Dual Dogs and as it was before in 60-th, when the same lines dual dogs in UK and Ireland could compete with field trial dogs.
I'm looking for these dogs all over the world. Now I have found very interesting dual dog in Belorussia. 3/4 UK + 1/4 American blood. Dog shows good speed and style and allready got good results in fields and we gonna use this dog in our dual dogs restoration programme.
You can look at this dog on this short video, but only one note, dog is not working, but walking in empty field. When he works, he runs much faster with wide casting and got great nose.
