I know the quick and easy answer here is to take the barrels to a qualified gunsmith. Before I do that though, I'd like to get some idea if it is worth the effort and gasoline. I have two sets of barrels from two different guns. The first is dark and pitted at least 2/3 of the length of the barrels from the chambers towards the bore. The other barrels are shiny bright with some spots of pitting scattered in places and some pitting in the chambers, though not enough to grab a fingernail. How does a layperson detrmine go/no go in these situations. I know this is a loaded question, but both of these are project guns that I would rather not spend anymore time and money on if the barrels are gone. I'd appreciate any insight and suggestions.
