Beautiful gun. I couldn't buy them all day even at that price but maybe a few early in the morning! Speaking of woody bits, has anyone noticed how many Lefever stocks contain knots? Battle's has one between the pistol grip and the toe in the right side view. Not much more than a whorl around a limb bud but it's there. I assume the English blanks Lefever used were sound and seasoned as the horns never appear to move away form the lockplate, but I also wonder if the Brit dealers graded the these down a notch and sold abroad as I never see knot inclusions in the stocks of Brit guns.

Battle, that's an easy fix. You just have to find the right craftsman to do the work that's all. Beautiful Lefever, but ain't they all!!!!

$600 looks like a good buy to me. I really like the gun. Were it mine I would just put the leather cover back and shoot it.

Best,

Mike

Is that stock pieced together or is that line just the place where the leather strap-on or a previous one, maybe ended? Coincidentally, I bought a two hook e-grade 16 earlier this summer that had a similar strap-on and a similar line. I'm still trying to polish out the line...Geo

I'm proud of mine, but I sure didn't get as good a deal as you did.

Perfect candidate for a butt transplant a la Crossed Chisels.

Mark Larson..........i will send you a email.
I don't want to do a transplant. I want to salvage what great wood it has left! I will either add a black spacer x2) and then cover a pad with leather. If i can't find someone to add wood and feather the grain in somehow. Anyone know who could do this?

I have a question. Did the seller disclose to you that the stock had been pieced? I asked him a bunch of questions, in an e-mail but the only reply I got was that it had been sold.
Thank you,
jl
