Lowell,
What would you do if you were out hunting and fell, splitting your stock? What if you accidentally scratched the piss out of your fading barrels and frame on a nice piece of barbwire fence while handing the gun over to your hunting buddy? Many guys who hunt with their guns, or their dads guns, or their granddads guns have experienced these kinds of things, and its unfortunate, but there are solutions, and its not always a 5K fix either. Really, an acceptable restock for a sterlingworth should not be more than 1500 +wood. If you send it out for barrel blue you can have that done for 500 or less. Color case will be less than 500, so you could be looking at 3000 max, and for that price youd have one hell of a damn fine American made workhorse.
