Shot on a friend of my Father's farm this afternoon, tons of birds around but blistering hot. Had my 90 year old Grandfather with us shooting his little JC Higgins 20 gauge double. We found a shady spot and I just sat with Grandpa and visited for the most part. He tried a few shots and picked up a couple birds so that was good enough for us.

I think I shot 7 times and killed two doves and two barn pigeons. Made one super long shot on one of the pigeons so that made me happy enough with my shooting for the day.

The rest of the group popped away with their automatics and managed limits all around for the most part. Dad shot at the other end of the field and killed 8 or 10 with his ever present pump though he visited with his friends more than he shot I think.

We helped clean birds and then headed for a bite of dinner with Grandpa in town. A good day all around, glad I was able to make it home.

Ed Muderlak just rolled into town a couple hours ago. We're going to run down to Paducah in the morning and pick up the limited edition copies of the new book then I'm headed back to Michigan on Wednesday and in Canada Thursday for the opening of goose season.

No season yet in Ga. Opens next Saturday. My usual opening day weekend at a friend's Camp on the Ocmulgee river in South Georgia went on as usual, but with activities limited to fishing and arrowhead hunting. The fishing was good and the arrowhead hunting was productive too. Looking forward to our opener next Saturday...Geo

Spent most of the day on the phone with mom's security system people. However I did get into the squirrel woods late with my Cooper JSR 17Hmr. First time hunting, gotta watch where you hit 'em with that cartridge(a little rough on the lads). A brace of young'uns did make the ride back in the cooler.
This rifle will make the perfect long range crow popper!

Do you have a collection of rocks? I have managed to pick up a couple or three myself. Until a few years ago I attended artifact shows in Bainbridge, Albany, Blakely, and Donalsonville. I also attended ones just across the state line in Dothan and Eufaula as well as in north to central Florida.

Yeah, I've been picking'em up since I was a kid. Walking to school in the '50s, all the other guys would walk in the road and I'd be in the ditch, looking for stuff...Geo

Same here. We have a little piece of dirt near Dothan. I haven't gone this year but I have walked the fields many times over the years.

Nice to know there are some other indian rock hunters on this site. My last good find was opening day during the past season. I walked out to pick up a goose and it's head was nearly laying on a real nice nutting stone. Best arrowhead I have in my collection came stuck in mud on my fathers boots years ago. I've found quite a few good rocks out goose hunting over the years, and in the springtime when they used to actually plow before all this no-till farming.

Destry, I made a thread on another forum I enjoy a couple of months ago about "hunting between hunting seasons". I showed quite a few pictures of points but there wasn't much interest from others. I would think a fair number of hunters would find some flint if they looked for them while out in the field.
