Here in Southern Illinois the serious possum hunters always carry a brace of possum guns. The one on top is for long distance and/or extra large possums. The one on the bottom is for small possums and/or closeup work.

Can't believe you layed those guns on concrete ..... Oh well. Perhaps you'd identify these two pieces. Ken

Ken, you might be surprised on what you can lay on concrete. LOL Top gun is a WC Scott 8 gauge full fledged he man possum gun. Bottom is a Little Pet 44XL possum gun for closeup work or 98 lb. types.

I've never fired anything larger than a 10 ga. --- you gotta be quite a man to fire that 8 bore. Do you have cases for it/ do you actually fire it ? I know of a co. who makes brass if you need any. Ken

I can't believe that it takes a 10 gauge to kill a possum. Try a Gamo pellet gun with light and laser. They're a lot quieter. Cheaper too. And they kill up to a 180 hog.

Apparently possums don't grow as big in Ohio as Southern Illinois. Occasionally a Southern Illinois possum gets out of here by hiding in a truck of turnip greens or some such and lands in another state. You can always tell when this happens as there will be reports from that area about Bigfoot sightings.

I like creamed Possum with sweet potatoes garnished in coon fat gravy; cooked with wild ramps and served cold ,while still greasy.Of course, they are not shot, but are road-kill.They are more tender after if left on the side of the road for at least six hours. I also like the Possum engraving on my Model-21's.The tail starts at mid-rib and the open mouth is at the top lever. This is all done by a master engraver near Charlottesville ,Virginia. As far as the feast, call. Bill

How much do you have to lead the average hard crossing 'possum?
Ditto the amazement that you laid those fine guns on concrete. Maybe that's just what 'possum hunters do.

Not really covering the range of possible possum-slayers from large to small when you don't even include a claw hammer.
