I just got back from Maine after a wet week looking for pa'trige and found this thread.
Almost every tool collector is a member of EAIA [Early American Industries Assn.] This organization publishes an annual member directory listing interests and other data of all it's members. I am off to the Amoskeag auction now, but will look for my directory this evening.
All the best, Mal

Our source has been able to refine our geographical puzzle to the area of Springfield, Illinois.

Gentlemen, sharpen your sights.

Mac

Is the EAIA stuff set up by state? If so, does anybody pop up for the Springfield area?

The basic postal zip code series for the Springfield area is 627XX. If you can sort Illinois members by those numbers, it would be helpful.

Springfield Gun Show, November 25 - 26, 2006

Springfield is our best lead as to where the trade for the Lefever documents took place. As much as we would like to know that this is where this gentleman lives, or did live, Sringfield is no sure thing.

This said, one of the national gun show websites noted a Springfield show this coming weekend at the Crow

ne Plaza Hotel. I haven't verified this with a phone call or email.

If you live in the area or were planning to attend, this would be a great way to lend a hand in the search. A real cool route might be to have a placcard soliciting Lefevers and Lefever paper, but just asking good questions would be a major plus. The best way to prepare for this is to just study this thread and organize the details.

If you could go, give us a signal here and we'll work to brief you with the most up-to-date info we have.

(Show is now verified)
