Jim's comment.."I know a few states have their own additional idiot additional regulations..." is what makes the average joe-6-pack nervous....
If it was just reading the ATF FAQs for the complete answer there would be no problem. But what makes the situation more complex is understanding the individual state laws that may restrict the local resident further....
That's why (I think) running the question by a group such as ours is a good first step...more times than not someone will raise a red flag, point the person to a correct "official" website, or suggest a contact...
