Battle, I'd say buy it! I gave $220 for mine and I love it. In no way does it compare with the Rems Mod. 10 or 29: both of those guns are a nightmare of design. Their little carrier flipper is prone to wear out and no gunsmith will attempt to fix it. But the Mod. 17 is a fine gun with no function problems. The only complaint might be it has a trigger guard a bit too snug if the shooter is wearing gloves in cold weather. FBN25 is correct. When the Remington patents ran out Ithaca grabbed the design and produced the Model 37, another great gun. Chops
