Just ordered one, price will be approx $16k, specs to your choice, quality AYA No.1, Homeless Joe, I am one of your stupid people best, Mike I wouldn't tell everybody... If you add the 8 grand your going to loose when you open the box to the $16k asking price the Purdey hammer guns not that far away.

IMO...if a guy used his gun a fair amount, all that walking around with hammers cocked would cause undue stress on the springs and other guts of the locks.

IMO...self cocking hammers on a hammer gun makes about as much sense as teats on a boar hogg.

When quail hunting I walk around with hammers at full cock with the action open. Seems pretty safe to me. Joe, I have tried that same approach with my hammerguns. I have a hard time sweeping two hammers back on a covey rise (small hands/short thumbs), and cocking one hammer at a time is too slow. It is no problem to carry the gun over the arm cocked with the action open, but I cannot seem to get the hang of closing the gun and bringing it to shoulder in a hurry. Need more practice , I guess...Geo

If a boar hog with teats, it would probably never leave the barn.

That's probably where this hammer gun will stay.

HomelessjOe's preferred carry is also mine when preserve shooting with a dog handler who may not know me. I also use this carry as much as possible in all situations. It is much easier to open and close a hammer gun on false points than to cock and uncock hammers.

It will not lose 8K when you open the box. Mike, I hope that you enjoy your purchase.

Why not try more advanced SLE design with hammers inside. There are two basic types one that cocks tumblers on closing and one that cocks them on opening.

KMcMichael, thank you, I don't think so either. Edward King is the son of one of the King brothers mentioned in the webpage and is a close friend. My first shotgun was an AYA and I think this hammer gun will make a nice driven pheasant tool as well as giving me fond memories of my first shotgun and of a good friendship, best, Mike
