When quail hunting I walk around with hammers at full cock with the action open. Seems pretty safe to me.
Joe, I have tried that same approach with my hammerguns. I have a hard time sweeping two hammers back on a covey rise (small hands/short thumbs), and cocking one hammer at a time is too slow. It is no problem to carry the gun over the arm cocked with the action open, but I cannot seem to get the hang of closing the gun and bringing it to shoulder in a hurry. Need more practice , I guess...Geo
