I'd go with the RBL but I wouldn't want it in 28 gauge. 12 or 20 maybe. I never could see messing with the near obsolete 28 gauge shells.

Jimmy, you are in such a paradigm! And a bit naive about many "gun things", I might add.

I would look at 2nd-hand late production Ithaca Classic Doubles. They had hand engraving (including luvly stick birds)and were made in Western New York. Twenty eight obsolete? Walmart carries several different loads and HeviShot 'Classic Doubles' also offers loads in this gauge.

Jimmy's out there in serious trapshooting country. He must have missed the fact that the 28ga has been one of the "official" gauges in registered skeet for, like, the last several decades.

Parker Reproduction because imitation is the highest form of flattery. What more can be said? It would be difficult if not impossible to improve on the beauty of design, the fit and finish, the balance and feel of a Parker Reproduction for the price.

I think both are outstanding guns.
This summer at the gun club I saw what I thought was a Parker Brothers 20 gauge. It was in incredible condition with original butt plate and high stock. The case was mostly worn off. I asked the owner if I could look at it and he said sure. It was a Parker Reproduction but with the case worn off and some use on it it was an incrediblly good looking gun I thought.
I say a well used Parker Reproduction.
Best,
Mike

Mike,Interesting you say you like the Repro. with the CC worn off. These come off if you look at them cross-wised, and what I've found is after you get about 80% of them worn off it becomes a better looking gun.
As far as the choice between the RBL-28 and the repro-28 I'd say it's a toss-up right now. I've now seen and handled the RBL, I have owned several repro's and recently purchased my present one which helped in my decision to cancel my RBL order. So I guess I sided on the repro side.
Here's the things to take into consideration. 1.The RBL can be ordered presently and you can have the choice of barrel length, choke constrictions, grade of wood, and lop and price it to fit your budget and needs. 2. The Parker repro is going to be harder to find, is limited for barrel length choices, and is in all likely hood going to cost you more the the RBL. The differences between the two is repro:skeleton butt plate, concave matted rib, IMO better checkering, you see the wood before you buy and more than likely 26",splinter. The RBL: choice of forearm style, concave plain swamped rib, plastic butt plate, and choice of barrel length and chokes.
The repro's have a track record of going up in value, the jury is out on what the RBL's will do on the resale market.
There's my 2 cents worth!

Parker repro hands down........ Personally, i don't like the checkering and or the pattern on the RBL's. The Parkers fit and finish is superior. I need to thank Dean for helping me purchase my 28 repro maybe a year, year and half ago for 2900.00! THANKS DEAN!!!!!

Glad to help Battle. Here's one I recently picked up for my darlin' wife . . . I sure hope she doesn't like it!
Just kidding, she loves it but it is a bit long for her so, instead of altering this beautiful piece of wood I've found another buttstock that I can alter and add a pad for her.
OK, I've tried . . . How does one attach a photo please??

dogon I agree completely. The first SxS I bought was a Parker Reproduction 28 that I have since sold. The PR 20 with the case worn off was much more attractive I thought.
DAM16 if you will email them to me at mike@quality-mechanical.xx I will post them for you. Replace the suffix xx with ws in the email address.
Thanks!
Mike
