so, King, what exactly do you think those 2 guys were herding the marine into the closet for? do you REMOTELY think he might have considered that he WAS DEFENDING his life? what was he supposed to do to satisy your requirements - hand over his wallet then plead for his life? hope they went away?

based on the story as presented to us, they hadn't turned their backs and started walking away. they weren't shot in the back.

i suppose he should have just peacefully acquiesced, then after they killed him, everybody could then say he should have shot them.

real world, King. get with the program. things aren't like they were and criminals now kill for pocket change. personally, were he a loved one of mine, i'd be glad he did what he did and was still alive. of the 3 people involved, the RIGHT one is still alive. what part of that math goes over your head?

It was the same story with the Clintons, zero respect for any of the service men ready to throw down their lifes for them. I think after the first month of poor treatment the militaty men around D.C. would have dodged the bullet insted of jumping in front of it.

He told me stories of how Jackie liked to ride her horses. Until they bought their own place, she would go to camp david. She was pissed when any of the sailors would look at her on horseback. They mounted a large bell on top of the barn. They would ring it when she left the barn and all eyes would turn away and remain there until the all clear bell was rung. On Sunday's Jack would let the secrect service me use it for recreation. That REALLY pissed her off. One time she demanded to be flown out there on a Sunday when all the staff had been given the day off. My friend was the only one who could saddle a horse so he got the job. He was holding the briddle in front of the horse when the first lady pranced out in her habbit and asked for a hand up. None of the others knew what she was talking about. After dog cussing a big marine, he did the only thing he knew to do, he gently grasped her around the waist and set her on the horse. She began to curse like a sailor and frail everyone in sight with her crop. My friend just held on the the raines and stayed in front of the horse's head out of whip range. And to think that so many women of the day felt that that spoiled bitch hung the mooon.

C'mon, fnb25. Read my post. Perhaps you were looking for an opportunity to use "acquiesced" or "remotely." Or your hip stuff of "real world" and "getting with the program." Otherwise, with respect, it makes no sense.

King, perhaps I misunderstood your post as well, even after re-reading it. Your statement that there's nothing in your wallet worth your life or anyone else's implies that you think that is what this was about. Perhaps this isn't what you meant, but if it was it misses the entire point that they weren't forcing him into the bathroom to rob him. Only a fool would allow himself to be transported to a secondary crime scene if he had the power to prevent it. Secondary crime scenes are always the most brutal. In today's gang-oriented crime environment, killing a victim in cold blood is an honor badge for gang members and a way to gain power within the gang. Put another way, when a criminal points a gun at you today, the chances that he intends to use it (regardless of your compliance) are far greater than ever before. This man did the only smart thing, and the only logical response to his actions that I can understand is joy that he was able to save his own life. It would never cross my mind to lament the fate of those who forced him into that situation, nor to find fault with the Marine's judgement to use deadly force when it was not you looking down the barrel of the thug's gun. With all due respect perhaps you didn't mean that, but I believe the majority will take that from what you wrote.

Amigo-As a Veteran it always pissed me off to see "Slick Willie" the Draft-Dodger putting out the wreath at the Tomb of the Unknowns each 11 Nov that skirt-liftin' skunk was our C-I-C. I believe the Jackie Bouvier Kennedy stories- as a spoiled little girl- her Daddy "Black Jack" Bouvier and later her Daddy Warbucks step-father Hugh Auchincloss- spoiled her rotten-rich, like the Kennedys, went through the Depression wondering why so many shabby looking folks were lined up for something to eat-when their silver forks were full of caviar and chateubriand-All of our past First Ladies had their quirks, but to be rude to the Secret Service and USMC guard details shows a great lack of class that no amount of inherited $ can ever buy-RWTF

You're not implying that I wouldn't know when my life was at risk, surely. I said I believe in killing in self-defence. I wouldn't kill someone taking my shotgun, TV set or wallet etc where my life was not at risk. To me it's bad karma and not worth the consequent opprobrium and legal hassles it would concur.

the correct word there would be INcur, not CONcur. concur means to agree with or to coincide. and as far as i know it's not legal anywhere to kill in defence of property (there may be exceptions but no place i've ever lived) which means he'd not have been within his legal rights to kill them just for robbing him anyway. apparently the authorities felt he was in defence of his life as there's no indication they're going to prosecute him. your post read as tho you didn't CONcur with that viewpoint.

whatever you meant, your original post read as a criticism of this guy for killing over his wallet. that may not be how you meant it but that's sure the way it read. it read like you were looking for some venue to espouse (oops, sorry, more big words) your lofty ideals.

I really didn't take King Brown's remarks to mean that he disagreed with that Marines response to that situation. Shoot-to-kill to preserve ones own life or that of others is a God-given
right and responsibility. The perps who decided to invade that Subway armed with guns forfeited their right to life when the passed through the door in my estimation. That Marine rightly assumed that he was the only one there who could prevent a death, his or that of the cashier, and acted in accordance with his training and logic. Just my thought...........George

"I DID", else I believe he would not have stated it in the manner in which he did. I took it he was saying the Marine should be tried & convicted for shooting the perps over the value of the money in his wallet. Personally I think there was much more on the Marine's mind than the value in his wallet & stand in support of him.
While admitting we are not totally led by them, never-the-less much can be learned by a study of the Laws, given to the house of Israel By the Almighty God at the hand of Moses. To paraphrase one of them "If a thief be slain while in the act of his thievery, NO Blood, will be required for him" "If" the sun shall rise & the victim go after him & slay him, then blood will be required for him. This would be accounted murder, the first would not.
When a thug comes in showing total dis-respect for people & their goods & is currently pointing a gun at you, anyone who does not consider they just may be shot (read that "fear for your life") is a fool.
