Recently I acquired a nice Lewis model ithaca in 12 gauge. All is well with the gun except the spring that secures the fore-end to the barrel hanger is weak. I am afraid that the gun after several repeated shots might truly come apart in my hands. I need a source for a replacement spring. Absent finding one I plan on installing a copper shim in the hanger with epoxy. Your thoughts, advice and sources for a spring are sought.
