To anyones knowledge did Ithaca make any of these with the damascus or twist barrels? I have a chance to picl one of these up but there is no blue left on the barrel. It looks like there was a pattern there though.

I don't think so, but Walt's records might turn up a special order high grade or something. If so I'll bet they didn't tell their lawyers about it...Geo

I just pick it up. The serial number is 4634xx. Its a little 16 field grade. Not in the best of shape but good enough for a shooter. Thanks for the info Geo.

I would bet it is not Damascus. If it is, it is the Ithaca rarity of the year. I would love to own such a gun.

Steve Barnett has a Grade 3 20-gauge NID with three sets of barrels. The 26- and 28-inch barrels are steel and the 30-inch set are Damascus. http://www.stevebarnettfineguns.com/frm_inventory1.htm

I would say retrofitted. NO WAY the KING of damascus barrals are not safe company is going to fit a gun that late with those barrels. Lou was absoultly preaching that damascus had to be done away with and re-barreling every beautiful damascus barrel out there(that he could get his hands on and charge for). And then for two of the sets of barrels to be fluid steel. Hum???

I had a chance to examine those barrels when Steve had the gun at the Southern Side by Side shoot. The damascus set did not have any of the usual Ithaca markings. I don't know who made them but I am certain they were not 'factory.' An interesting set of barrels nonetheless.
