Hi all, well looks like I'll be lucking into a nice VS 12E in 12ga. Condition is about 90%+ (some dings, dents etc to the stock) strong Case Colors and very good bluing. The gun was bought in Spain in the mid 50's.
I know that VS was one of the top makers duriing this period and the 12E was the top of his line. BTW, I'm paying $900 for it.
I think I got a very good buy on this.
Anyone else have any thoughts on Victor Sarasqueta and this model?
All the best!!
Greg

Greg, I would agree it is a great buy!
Someone from the BB sent me a couple of pages of a 1952 VS catalogue. I wish I remembered who it was, because it includes models ranging from 1 to 14. I only have the page for model 7, nicely engraved SL with hand detachable locks. Price list also included (F.O.B a Spanish port, packing included) #1 USD16.- #7E USD83.50 (auto ejectors) #12 USD178.- #14 USD288.-
Enjoy,
JC

Greg, Congrats! Just curious, is this the 12E that was at the K.C. Cabelas? I've never had that kind of success with getting them to move that far from their asking price. I'd be interested to know how you negotiated terms if this is the same gun. I ask because I've taken an interest in a French 16 at the Cabelas near me (Rogers). I think their asking price is inflated to say the least. Thanks, Jim

Hi Jim, Thanks, no this is from a private party. I don't think Cabelas would ever knock off 50% of their asking price. I think the only way is if you had pictures of the manager in an interesting pose and said you'd show them to his wife.
Cabelas, will deal a little, I was dealing with them once and by the time I made my mind up - the gun was sold! Oh well.
All the best!!

VS guns are undervalued in comparison to current Spanish guns. Not much question about that. In general, guns from makers that went out of business as a result of the DIARM fiasco can be good buys, if you're looking for a gun to use. As investments . . . for whatever reason, that segment of the Spanish gun market is pretty soft.

Greg, Thanks for filling me in on the details. My hat would have really been off to you had it been the Cabelas gun. Even so, congrats again. Sounds like a great deal. PS How do the pheasant numbers look out your way? A group of us are considering the Underwood area this fall. Jim

Hi Jim and thanks again!! Bird numbers this year are up about a 1/3 from last year - in short excellent!!!! Last year was the best year in 40 years and this year we had a mild winter and a very good spring hatch. We have also been getting more rain than in past years - this will really help. Numbers are good throughout the state. If you plan on hunting PLOTS, in the underwood area, you may have to look for some good ones. Even if the state has a million acres in PLOTS, quite a few are as bare as a Walmart parking lot. Especially in the area aound McCluskey - not good. But this year may be better, just don't know yet. If you try around the Mott area, there are a lot of PLOTS, but these get hit hard and I mean hard. This is the "Big" area for birds. Be advised, there is now a lot of fee hunting in this area.
Overall, if your willing to look around you'll find areas with good hunting. Just remember, the first week of Pheasant hunting an out of state hunter can't hunt on STATE owned land (PLOTS,WMA, school lands etc). Private land and WPA's are ok however. Don't pass up the WPA's some great hunting on them, only non-tox shot however. But worth it!
All the best!!

I have a V.S. 12It is almost as nice as my Pedro Arrizabalaga guns. It was made in the 50s also. I think you made a great buy.

Hi all and thanks again! well it's a done deal, talked to the seller tonight and the deal is sealed. $900 and to top that off it also comes with a leather trunk case. The case is beat up on the outside, but hey that was a nice bonus.
Thanks again all!!
