Ok. Let me try this one last time. I know 4 oz. will be sold in the stores for 30 cents. But does anyone know what quantity the guy is getting for the $18.00? And don't go back and tell me 144 cans. Is that 144 pints? Quarts? 55 gallon drums? And don't give me the store price. So, who's on first? I DON'T KNOW!! LEFT FIELD!! TOMORROW? NO, TODAY!!

For $18.00 he is getting 144 4 ounce cans? They came 12 4 ounce cans to the box and he got 12 boxes for 18 bucks, or in this case, twice that much for $36. Maybe I am missing something in your question??

Did Ithaca give little samples of these out with the guns they sold or did they give out 3-in-1 oil? I seem to remember an article stating that Ithaca gave out 3-1 oil. But why would you do that if you had your own oil???

So, Babcock, Hinds & Underwood paid 12.5 cents per can for this oil to be retailed at 30 cents per can. Were they the ultimate retailer or a Jobber or Wholesaler that would in turn sell this oil to another business? At the ultimate retail price that is $86.40 for those 288 cans of 30 cent oil, so there was $50.40 cents of profit in there for the folks between Ithaca Gun Co. and the ultimate retail purchaser.
I've recorded six Ithaca oil can sales on Ebay where they went for as high as $787.77 down to $462. Most recent one I recorded went for $525.

For an oil can. Why can't I sell my bridge?

As I recall, the first one I saw sell on E-bay brought something in the $1500 range (probably empty as well). I guess bridges are more common the Ithaca oil cans. Timothy, I believe James Tyson did a Double Gun Journal article were he mentions a small vial of 3/1 oil being included with a new gun. I have no information pro or con. I am sure they discontinued the practice when they started selling Ithaca oil. I have only seen one NIB Ithaca double, a grade 3E 20 ga. There was no oil present in that box.
