Droll, Greg, very droll.
Surely you can come up with a better one than that.

Greg, I would worry about stopping it here, before it starts. America has voted, and we maybe in trouble.

Lowell:
This not so much a political issue, and it is one that I hope Red State and Blue State folks can all agree upon - it is the death of Common Sense, and the general consensus that people have responsibilities for themselves and their actions.

GKT Greg, you and I live in Red states. You should pay more attention to what the people are saying in the Blue states. The situation in England didn't get where it is without it becoming a political issue. The entire liberal agenda is based upon absolving people of personal responsibility, therefore the government should be the one to handle everything for them(of course). Jim

On the whole, anti-gun sentiments and actions have strong support from opinion makers and molders of our sociological matrix: entertainment, news, education, 'health' officials, and plain old professional busy-cause-bodies. Each generation gets the Bell curve further away from OUR demographic, and into generations with no emotional or intellectual bonds to our beliefs and activities. We live in the greatest age of 'subtle' dis-information that the world has yet seen.
I recently sent the following to a fellow Chessie breeder, who was inquiring about gun values after her friend's burglary. There is a reward out and she quoth: "If the guns are returned unscathed, friend won't have to kill anyone (LOL)." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
""That is damned truth. The 'invaded' feeling, the loss, the whole shtick affects people psychologically for some time after the event. In poor disarmed Britain, the borough mental health boards now offer classes in how to regain your self esteem after having followed the government-recommended passive response to criminals. No resistance, be polite, submit yourself to be beaten or abused, do not cry out for help or police, as that may escalate the violence, know that you may be arrested if you resist and hurt the criminal -- no wonder they need psychological counseling."
"Even here, in some states you are REQUIRED to leave your house if in danger, and WILL be prosecuted if you resist while in the house [Massachusetts.]The study of legal compliance with new CCW laws have pointed up how vulnerable the armed citizen is to legal extortion by shark lawyers, and to prosecution by the state, for decisons and actions taken under the fear and duress of resisting assault."
"So, yeah, y'r friend will be angry for a good while. The meth epidemic has escalated the 'smash in and carry off' petty crime to real problems. More people are investing in heavy safes to store guns, cameras, jewelry, etc. I like the idea of A HIDDEN ROOM behind sliding panels, rotating bookcase, false wall at back of closet, etc. The crack heads won't find it and will be fairly stymied if they do. That's a lot of unneccesary trouble in my book, tho."
"From my political point of view, it's simpler to completely legalize all drugs, give them away by the wheelbarrow load for free, and let the stupid genes kill themselves off. Darwin will win again. It'll take care of all the massive social problems of people unable and unwilling to help themselves, reduce most crime to nothing, and help delay global warming by reducing the amount of human byproducts: hot air from do-gooders and politicians."" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Realistically, unless the centers of so-called "intellectual" thought can be persuaded that Euro-marx-socialist models of political thinking are the instruments of an attractive and willing submission to oppression, then it may -- in the end, amount to a Second American Civil War. Not a pleasant thot, but please note that determined people with little resources can make life miserable for occupying forces.
Just my ancient and creaky old curmudgeonly opinion. Now, if no one minds, I need to finish off my quart of breakfast Jameson's so's I can stand to read the paper and watch the news.;~`)
Relax; we're all experts here.

Canada---I can't speak for the States---is illiterate about guns and why we hunt and shoot. It can only become worse as hunters and shooters, respected for other things they do in their communities, die. Blithely allowing increasing intrusions by governments into our private lives doesn't help. Fear has won.

I couldn't agree more with GKT's sentiments and those of others who have responded. Personal responsibilty has gone the way of the Dodo....
On a lighter note, Greg, I especially liked your reference to Occum's Razor and to Monty Python.....LOL!
Have copied and disbursed your letter to others.
Best Regards, Larry

Larry:
You are only the fourth person who has told me they got the pun.
My jokes are generally so dry, no one can determine that they are funny. Glad you liked it.

I'm choking on the fact that I now come from a blue state.
The 22 short is a dog and pony show, while England's radical Muslin population goes about their nasty business pretty much unchecked. The New York Times Channel(yeah, I know) had a show on the Islamic storefront terror merchants.
