Leo,
Sachsenhausen and Apfelweinviertel or "Apple Wine Quarter" are what is left of the old part of the city of Frankfurt am Main. Schweizer Strasse for Beer, wine, Ebbelwoi and Handkase mit Musik, and the high-quality sausages known as frankfurters (Brühwurst). Frankfurt has many museums and some of Germany's best-known.
Road/Rail trip if time permits.
Frankonia Jagd has a very large store about 90 min (115 km) east by train, in the Baroque town of Würzburg. Less in a fast auto but in reality traffic between Frankfurt and Würzburg on the autobahn can sometimes be a PITA .
Wurzburg is a good walking town as it has a significantly large old town situated on the banks of the river Main. There are numerous churches, old bridges across the Main, the Festung (Fortress) Marienberg, the University, Town Hall - all the makings of a great historic city. The history is part and parcel of everyday life. There are local German chocolate stores right next to the Dom St. Kilian, there is a thriving Farmer's Market right in the middle of the Marktplatz beside the Marienkapelle.
Weinhaus Zum Stachel is probably the oldest and best eatery in Würzburg and their wines are from the restaurant's own vineyards. More dining and drinking you say, Ratskeller Würzburg, Backöfele, Wein- und Fischhaus Schiffbäuerin. Good eats.
At this point it would be safe to assume I mangled & misspelt every German name-place.
