Every schoolboy knows these words, every American treasures them. Yet -- to me -- they are far less important than the sentence that follows:

"That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, — That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government..."

'Equal' and 'pursuit of happiness' are often unfulfilled dreams -- 'consent of the governed' lays down a right that has toppled kings and dictators.

Hmm, it looks good on paper, but, without these words, what dictator would be toppled?

"....the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed".

We have four, highly educated supreme court justices that could not grasp these fourteen words. The dissent was a mealy-mouthed pandering to criminal infested cities that tried to ignore these fourteen words at the end of the most important amendment, since, without it, the other nine don't exist as natural God-given rights, but, as government-given, and, therefore, subject to loss.

Without the teeth of the first ten amendments, in particular, the first and second, the constitution is just so much old hemp. I don't believe it was a mistake, or oversight, on the part of the framers, that they came in this order.

Light a sparkler for me on the 4th, Jack. The government says you can do that, here in MN.

The Declaration of Independence established the principle that government derives its just powers from the consent of the governed. Many armed societies bowed their heads under dictators, caesars, pharoahs and kings - 'divine right' ruled England when every man had a longbow. Without the consent of the governed, the Second Amendment would be meaningless.

They know and did not let that stop them from letting their views get in the way of the facts. The problem is with the style of judicial activism that is taught in law schools, too many judges become activist in ruling on cases. They do not interpolate as much as try to fix or dictate, what should be, in their learned view that the law should be. They do not even seem to use the Constitution as the guiding light in their rulings. By becoming "activist" they assume the role as law makers and even the executive branch. If they want to make law they should run for elected office not hide behind the robes of the court.

One swing vote will reverse the last ruling in this case. We are not done with the issue as many think. They will just try another tact and get a ruling that will make their case seem reasonable and hence get a back door way to get what they want.

This is why I am voting for the most conservative Presidential candidate that has a chance to get elected. And he is no conservative by any means. But what choice do I have? Vote for the other candidate and get two or three liberal judges appointed in the next term or two terms. Stack the Supreme court 6:3 against and we are in real trouble. And that is a fact. ATIAF

Next language we'll need will either be Swahili (if Osama Bin Barracks Bag becomes POTUS, or if not, then Chinese- as Mc Cain will most likely be a clone of GWB in foreign policy- But cheer up my First State pal- this country- with all of its faults (the 4 dipstick Supremes who have never faced a knife wielding druggie in a midnight parking lot-the Sarah Brady Bunch with the Feinstein Schumer Bloomberg Clinton back-up singers)will still be the Land of the Free and The home of the Brave- Walls and Monuments and grave markers at Arlington, Flander's Field, the depths of the Eternal Father's oceans all testify to that- we have narrowly won freedoms paid for with great sacrifice- today when we grill brats, quaff cold Leninkugels or Millers, enjoy potatoe salad and corn on the cob, and later fireworks, let us all remember those who paid the ultimate price for our Freedoms!!

What to do with America these days!
Well, the last two rifles I bought were a brand new Kimber SuperAmerica and a Cooper JSR rimfire.
