Dick, tell us more about the scaled frame CSMC Model 21s. I've seen and handled them but that's it.

CSMC started bulding them a few years ago and only build a couple a year. The premium is about $10K over a 12-16-20 gauge gun but the gun is entirely transformed. You can view more pictures at my website but essentially it is the culmination of about 20 years purchasing Model 21's and 40 years of drooling over them since I saw my first Winchester catalog as a boy.-Dick

Jimmy, this thread seems to have run it's initial course, so I hope you won't mind my borrowing it for a question to the title audience.

A few years ago I screwed up and installed the forend on my 21 when the hammers were down. I was surprised there wasn't really much resistance, but when the hammers cocked the forend slapped hard into the barrels, and ever since there's been a little play in the fit when the hammers are cocked. Other than Galazan's, can you recommend a gunsmith experienced with 21s that you'd have confidence in to tighten the forend fit and not screw anything up? Andy W. did good work for me before the demise of his business, and I'm reluctant to send this to someone unfamiliar with the 21 forend latch.

Thank for any help you can offer!

Jay

Charlie- a friend had a similar problem-sent his M21 to Jack Rowe in Enid-OK I'd check GUN DIGEST as I think he is listed there- Jack is a London trained gunsmith specializing in double guns- my friend was very pleased with the work- If you live in MN perhaps Jack Puglisi in Duluth can recommend a qualified 'smith for your 21- I'd love to own one- the late Jack O'Connor sure was a big "fan" of John Olin's double-RWTF

I would never be offended or upset that someone asked a question on a post I started. Good luck.

Thanks Jimmy-amazing to me, as a "newbie" how strong opinions and personal feelings can be regarding our mutual love (here on this website anyway) of fine double guns- And now that the 5 Supremes have made their ruling- let us all band together to defeat the "antis" whether they are after: (1) Handguns (2) Sporting weapons- whatever- hard to imagine using a L.C. Smith single trapgun to rob a bank- but to the "antis" ALL guns are evil-and I think we need to get past personal "disagreements" here and elsewhere and keep up the battle- a 5 to 4 decision is like the Cubs 1 -White Sox 0 score (in interleague play) you can say that "A Chicago baseball team won" and be right-but it doesn't mean "Da Cubbies" are gonna end the "100 year jinx" this year"!!
