I placed an early order for a 20 ga RBL in spite of the fact that I have several 20's and I wasn't hot on the fact there were no barrel length choices and I am not fond of screw in chokes. Long story short, I didn't get the 20 and placed an early order for the 28 because of the barrel length/fixed choke choices. The gun will come to about $4600.00. I'm now wondering if I could purchase a nice 28 ga. Parker repro for about the same $. What do you think and why? The wait for the RBL is not a factor - I have lots of guns to shoot.

The RBL should cost less than the Parker in comparable condition. However, in my opinion the Parker is a far more attractive gun in either gauge. The choice for me would be easy.

BF, If you like 26" bbls on a Repro, you could find one for similar money. Otherwise, the only other length bbls on Repros is 28" and they are rare or found most often in the 2bbl sets that run over $6k these days.
Personally, I like the Repro better, but like the barrel selection of the RBL. But given that my use for a 28 ga is more likely to be for quail in close cover, I'd be satisfied with 26" bbls on a Repro.

I think this exact same question was posed by someone else a couple months ago. If you do a search you'll get everybody's opinion as well as everybody telling everybody else why their opinion is stupid. It'll save a lot of time.

You won't likely buy a 28ga Repro for $4600, although someone here recently listed one for just under $5K, which I thought was an excellent price compared to what we're seeing on the market. 20ga Repro, you could certainly get one of those.
I'd echo Chuck's comments on 28ga Repros. I think they're great guns, but if you insist on one with 28" barrels and DT, expect to spend a long time looking. And expect it to be choked M/F--but with constrictions appropriate for a 12 rather than a 28! Now if you could find a Repro 28, 28", DT, Q1&2, that'd be my idea of something close to the Holy Grail. But I think I'll have to be content with mine, set up exactly as described except with 26" tubes.

I called the first day the Jaques sale paper came out and found a 28" dbl trigger straight grip 28 at Guns Unlimited. It was a bit too straight so I had a friend in Mobile put a decent piece of French Walnut on it. I knew with $2500 total it was a fair deal but did not realize they had gone up so much. Should have bought a dozen. I also had Mike Orlean open it to im and ic or maybe a tad more. Maybe 2600 counting his barrell work.

B Frech, 26" IC/M SST is easy. With the Repro 28's, BT and PG are harder to come by--especially the BT.

I haven't decided what I'm going to do yet, but will contact you if I decide to go with the Parker. Thanks
