I recently picked up a W&C Scott and Son 10 gauge sidelever hammer gun. #16065 was made in 1875. It has 28" laminated barrels. I tried to google up some information on other Scott made sidelevers and drew a blank. Could anyone tell me if Scott made many of these? Thank you for any info you could provide.

Bob Scott was one of if not the most prolific gunmaker in Britian. He made thousands of them. Scott guns run the gamut but all are very well made.

Thanks for the reply, Mike. I do have a few other Scott guns, but this is my first sidelever. Does anyone have a picture of a side lever Scott that they could post?

Very, very nice, Terry. I think the one I picked up was earlier. It looks quite a bit different, especially in the bolsters. They look more like what would be seen on a pin fire. Less engraving too. Would the laminated barrels indicate a low grade gun? It seems pretty well made though.

There was one for sale at Feland Guns in the Houston area for quite awhile. It looked like it had been completly restored and a good job at that. I did not have the money to buy it or it would have been mine.
Terry, that hammer gun is beautiful.

Mr. Lubzinski-
That's one of the nicest sideliver Scott hammerguns I've seen.
Do you know when it was made? What type of forend release does it have? Is it marked Purdeys Patent on the watertable? Does the hinge pin have a slotted screw head on the other side? What's the address on the rib? Does it have Scott's patent adjustable lump?
Any more pics?
Please excuse all the questions, but you have an interesting gun there.
Thanks for sharing.

The Sidelever Scott at Felands was all original except the barrels which I had refinished for him. Someone in Katy bought it I believe.

Gentlemen, I wish I could say it was mine but I was a little late. It appeared on Kirby Hoyts website, vintagedoubles.com , a few days ago and sold the same day. If you snooze, you loose. Maybe next time....
