I am building up a web site to flag up the various gun related things I do.

I have just got it on-line as a 'first draft' any constructive criticism or just rude (honest) comments much appreciated regarding look, layout, services etc.

I can't think of a better bunch of people to ask for input on this - so thank you in advance!

Dig,
Well Done!
I like the basic layout and navigation a lot. It's clean and easy, which seem like simple website goals but I know they aren't. Looks modern but not cookie-cutter. The photos are nice enough yet load quickly. It's a professional job.

I think you'll get some action with your Independent Gun Condition Report service.

Mr Hadoke,

I like it and it is very easy to move around within the site. Best of luck and I hope I need your services some day.

Take care,

Mike

Your web site is now in my "bookmark" list of favorite places to visit in the future. Layout and navigation are well done, especially if you consider this a "first pass" for beta test. Never the less, I do have a few minor suggestions which you may take...or leave.

1 - "Contact Us" - The page is nice, but I'd expect to see most of the information regarding your personal involvement, background and rationale for this business to be included in the opening page "About Us". Normally I'd only go to the "Contact Us" page to ask a question. And I'd expect to find only contact information, perhaps with a pop-up email form to fill out and send. Instead I learned more important information about you and your business...which is good, just not where I expected to find it.

2 - "Gun Condition Report" This should be a very useful service. I trust you'll get a good deal of interest from those of us outside the U.K., especially from the U.S. Because the form is a print out and fax, I would add some basic business info to the PDF file: International Exchange Prefix with the Fax Number; Voice Number; and Contact Representative's Name, etc.

3 - "Shooting Breaks & English Tuition". Another interesting idea in your business plan. I suspect your American clients could make excellent use of the "English Language Tuition" portion, since most of us can not speak english...the King's version or any other kind...we just don't know it.

4 - When you hold an inventory of interesting firearms or have access to some that can be pictured on the site, I'll be a frequent visitor.

All in all an excellent start to what I believe will be a fruitful venture. The more pictures and color you can add, the better. Good luck.

Nice, it strikes me as a very professional job. I would find a page listing upcoming auctions helpful, and expect that others would too.

Great work Dig! I have bookmarked and look forward to visiting often. Agree on the Auction issue and perhaps an Auction Sales report after the auction.

Looks good, works well, and you are offering services which I will certainly utilize. I do note that the Link to "gunshop.com" takes us to other than this site. Suggest you revise to the new URL here.

Dig...the site is cool...However, you need to correct your links page...
This page:
http://www.vintageguns.co.uk/inc_index.php?links

Has this:
GunShop.com
Probably the best site on the ‘net for swapping notes on collecting and fiddling with old guns. There are many American contributors to the ‘Double Gun BBS’ forum as well as those from continental Europe and the UK. It is a real on-line community of enthusiasts.
http://www.gunshop.com

It needs to be:

doublegunshop.com

Also, the proper link for Double Gun Journal info should be:
http://www.doublegunshop.com/doublegunjournal.htm
(Please remove Daniel's email address from your site.)

Thank you,

Dig

Good for you! You have conceived a business plan winner!

Standout services are the independent inspection and report, and repair. Along with negotication and purchase arrangements, our ability to view and consider the widest possible range and number of available guns further strengthens the package. Granted, geogaphical distances will need to be factored into your scheme as you may evolve in this direction - - this is understood.

I'll go as far as to bet that within a few years you'll be adding
"whistles and bells" to this core business plan not presently dreamed of.

Really good concept, Dig! Best of luck to you.
