Since the wife is gone today, I thought I'd give an old Arisaka barrel that I prepped, a rust blue with some Laurel Mtn Forge solution!

Printed off the directions from their website, built a scald tank out of PVC,(thought I'd see how well the scald tank works as opposed to boiling tanks), and proceeded to do everything my wife told me she didn't want me to do! Hung the barrel in the bathroom, put the scald tank on the kitchen table, applied the solution on the kitchen island!

I guess it doesn't pay to not listen to the wife! I dumped the boiling water into the scald tank (which earlier seemed to balance well with the open slit facing up, bumped the edge of the tank while pouring, causing the barrel to shift to my side, spilling out the boiling water, on to my now blistered bare feet, all over the table, and onto the hardwood floor. I guess it could have been worse, she could have come through the door while this was going on!
