I need to have some small gun parts welded up. One part is a broken trigger mechanism frame on a Purdey double rifle. Does anyone know somebody who will weld up some parts in a reasonable amount of time and price? How much would it cost to buy a small TIG welder and do it myself? I am not a trained welder.

If your not a trained welder useing a TIG welder can be tricky. your better of going to a small weld shop & having them do the welding for you. A school sponcered Vocational center usually will do small weld jobs also.

I bought a Purdey hammergun from an English auction house last year that had the forearm metal that butts up against the front of the action cracked completly through horizontially. This wasn't mentioned in the auction and when I asked them about it they said that it was mine and that they couldn't mention everything. Anyway, Keith Kearcher did a bang up job of welding it so that you couldn't tell it was broken in the first place. He charged me 1/20th what I was quoted in England.
