I've got a couple of Stevens Model 240s...They are .410 O/U hammer guns with Tenite stocks.. Do you have any idea when these were manufactured?....Thanks-Doug

I bought a 22/410 a few years ago in 90% + condition. I gave it to my wife. She uses it to keep the squirrel & beaver population down.

They are sensitive to heat - don't leave them in a hot car or in direct sunlight.

Alex, I'd worry about the durability of your shoulder; suspect it'll crack before the tenite!

I recently bought a Stevens model 5100, a forerunner of the 311, with a Tenite stock. It's in 16 ga. and I intend to make it a project gun.

My point in posting this is, when it arrived at my FFL dealer, the stock was completely broken off. USPS at their best. The bolt attaching the stock to the receiver is maybe a 5/16 diameter and aluminum, or some other very soft metal.

Baring damage from the sun or abrasion as others have mentioned, the bolt will break before the plastic.

One of the first shotgun I ever fired was a single shot Stevens with the Tenite stock that belonged to my father. The stock had a large crack on the left side right at the butt. As I remember it appeared as though the plastic had seperated from the entire left side of the butt plate from top to bottom.
