Does anyone know of a website that would give a listing of Gunsmiths in the 1920's through 1940's???

Not that I know of, I do have a database of gunsmiths from that time period that made custom rifles. If you have a name post it or send me an email and I'll see what if anything I might have.

It looks like P. Kitszewski- Could be P. Kieszewski- or P. Keeskzewski. It's on a DB 12ga that is fully engraved and has a dog and a deer on each side of the gun that are inlaid silver. I would think Polish????
Many Thanks

Ernie,
I checked all my American and European Gunsmith books and did not find the name. Can you tell us something about the gun such as proof marks or any other markings. It's unusual for a European firearm not to also have the name of the town as well as the maker.

It does have another word behind the name- either Morehinged or Morehingen. When you break it down it looks to have several proof marks one of which I recgonize as Belguim (ELG). One one side it has two numbers 02003 and then 1928. I thought it was made in 1928 but when you break it down it has the 1928 again where you normally see the seriel #. It deff. has twist steel barrels. Will be out of town for the next three days so if you post and don't see a reply from me you will know why.
Many thanks for you interest and help.

The only place I can find that is even close is the city of Moehringen which is on the southeast corner of Stuttgart. Might need to post pictures of the gun and ALL the markings. I don't have the third Volume of Heer's which list makers by location, if someone has that might give it a try.

I have a friend that took some pictures of the gun and is going to email them to me. If you will send me your email address I will forward them to you. I know how to do that much. In the meantime I will make another post and ask if anyone has a copy of the 3rd volume of the book you mentioned. Thanks again
