Does anyone have a load or know where I can find a one ounce .410 load ? My intention is to use it as a snake load in a Taurus .410 revolver. Doesnt have to be particularly fast or pattern well at 30 yds. Just want a lot of shot up close. Any help appreciated. Thanks Richard

I don't think you can get 1 ounce of shot in a 2 1/2" shell even without powder in it. 1/2 ounce is about it for a 2 1/2" shell. A 3" shell will handle 11/16 oz.

We have LOTS of rattlesnakes out here, I use the short 410 skeet loads in a H&R "Handigun" Very effective. Also load 45 Long Colts, #9 shot. 45 gas check over the powder, 45 gas check upside down over the shot...Works for us!

As Chuck said, and if you shot 1 oz. of shot in the revolver, it would probably jump out of your hand and slap you up-side-de-head. 1/2 oz. of shot in a 2-1/2" .410 is the normal load and 1/2 oz. od number 9 shot will kill any snake in this country. If it doesn't, give him the gun and say "escuuuuse me".

Not trying to be faceitious, but; take a 2½" case, prime it, drop the shot & crimp.
1 oz of shot in a .410" case will have a column length of approximately 2". Subtract base wad ht & crimp depth, & that's about what you have left.
