Had a good day at the Baltimore Antique Gun Show today.I think I saw more doubleguns being carried around than anything else.
I was looking for another American double and saw several I was interested in.
Came home with a very well restored 1923 Lefever Nitro Special,
12 guage 30" barrels, gun looks like new, maybe better than new,all metal redone, was told the casehardening was done by Turnbull, wood very nicely refinished. All screws are perfect, possibly new?
I never really thought a Nitro was restoration worthy, maybe my thinking is wrong. Has it reached the point where even the more common American doubles are worth restoring?
I paid 725 which is a lot for a 12 guage Nitro but I'm not so sure even covers the cost of the work done.
Attached a few pics.
