Went to another estate auction and came home with two more shotguns that I know nothing about except they are in excellent condition. Would appreciate any info all you experts can pass on.
the first is a DB Rabbit eared 16 ga. with the following on the side of the right barrel ( E or F and Hanquet ) the and looks like it is underlined. Below this is one word Liege. The second is also a DB 16 ga. with the only wording on the side plate Ranger 101.6

Thanking you in advance.

Your first one is Belgium- I had one so marked with lots of engraving and thought it was a nice gun. The other I'm not sure of. You'll have to learn what different "proof marks" on the barrels look like. Paul

The Ranger is either a Stevens or a Fulton sold by Sears.

Ernie:

Possibly F(and)Hanquet(Ferdinand Hanquet) and check one of PeteM's favorite Belgian sites: http://www.littlegun.be/arme%20belge/art...0liege%20gb.htm . The "F and" was in a 1919 comglomerate of three Belgian firms.

Kind Regards,

Hanquet was still in business in early 1980s. I think they carry the brand name Centaure. They imported colt. They have been in the making of a lot of different gun, handguns, reproduction of muzzle loaded exportation style ( poupou ) and in the 70s a nice reproduction of napoleonic pistol. They sold colt parts and maybe was official colt distributor. They got a lot of comblian, rollingblock Martinis... still in stock for refurbishing. It was a pleasure to see the piles of old guns , unfortunatly without market. I heard the Mlle Hanquet married the manager and the busineess closed. Happy ending.

The Ranger is most likely a Stevens, The Hunter Arms Rangers are marked " Presision Grade 101.3" on the barrel..MDC
