Looking for info on SxS shotgun with ROMERWERK A.G.-SUHL on both barrels. Also Krupp Essen with many proof stamps. I have found a little info about Krupp steel but can't find anything about Romerwerk. The guns serial # 13712. Many thanks for any help...Joel

Here's one I sold not so long ago, also a 16 gauge. Was inscribed RWS, the German Gun Collectors Assoc can give you a bit of history on them. Seems I remember them going out of business about 1936-38 or so, and that the owner Roemer was considered an enemy of the Hitler regime or some such.

Römerwerk were gunmakers at Suhl, established before 1910. They were taken over by F.W. Heym (August Heym) in 1938. If you do a web search for them make sure you use the “ö” (umlaut).

Here's how to type the umlaut on your keyboard. The umlaut is the double dots over the top of certain letters. To do the umlaut:
(1) Hold down the Ctrl key then press the Colon key(Shift . [So to clarify this - you will be holding down the Ctrl key, the Shift key and colon key all together at the same time.... i.e you will have 3 keys held at once.]
(2) Release all keys simultaneously.
(3) Type the appropriate letter a, e, i, o, u, y.

If this fails you can always copy and paste them.

And for the 5% of us using Macs it's OPTION & U, then the appropriate letter.

My problem lies in reconciling my gross habits with my net income.

Thank you fella's for the info on this double, seems I am attracted to the very supperb workmanship of these old German pieces! My Roemer is a very light weight gun and is a pleasure to carry all day long through the bush. It comes up to point of aim naturally. Takes 2 1\2" shells in 16 guage. Looks like my computer skills for posting pictures need a bit of work! You can view this double on my photo bucket site under 16 gauge double. http://s41.photobucket.com/albums/e279/Captjoel/?start=all
